Masuda Junichi for Pokemon!!!!! OKAY MAYBE THIS IS JUST MY NOSTALGIA ACTING UP BUT. Seriously, I love the Pokemon game soundtracks; they're just perfect travelling music and makes the level grinding much more zen and tolerable.

Pallet Town; aka the reason why I hang out at the hometown so often even though there's literally nothing there.
SS Anne all the time, the ship's not allowed to leave until I'm through listening
Route 29 travelling music ahhhhhh<3 I do my homework to route music sometimes........
Pokemon battles yo
Hurry Along 2-- I *love* hearing variations of old music, it makes every game feel as if it were my very first journey (/u\)

;tldr I love Pokemon and the music makes it.

I'm really lame and don't pay much attention to composers either, so I'll go with a well known and old one I remember loving the music produced by! Which is Yuki Kajiura, and I originally came about her works while watching Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

A few of my favorite pieces, hmm...

A Song of Storm and Fire
Decretum
Inevitabilis
Credens Justitiam
Luminous Sword

It has been ages since I've seen any of these anime, but I remember really digging the music.

Okay, Koji Kondo is like, the composing god in my opinion. The Mario and Zelda soundtracks are both amazing.

1. He did the arrangement for the Super Mario Bros. medley in Smash Bros Wii U.

2. Lost Woods or Saria's song is one of the best pieces of Zelda music, hands down, especially it was tied so closely to a very likeable character.

3. The Snow theme from Super Mario 64 is really great. He originally wrote it to be slower, but then he saw how action-packed the levels were and had to rewrite it.

4. The songs of Clocktown were all so great—the first day's song is slow and relaxed. The second day's song is lively and a bit hurried, whereas the third day's song is rushed and chaotic. It fits everything in Majora's Mask so perfectly.

5. The Gusty Garden Galaxy was amazing. The entire soundtrack of Super Mario Galaxy is, but this song stands out as one of the most memorable.

Susumu Hirasawa is definitely way up there. He worked on all of Satoshi Kon's films and Paranoia Agent, which are some of my favorite anime features. His stuff is super weird but I think that's why I love it so much, and it really brings an extra depth to Kon's work.

The Girl In Byakkoya is used for the Paprika opening, which is awesome.

Parade is used during a parade scene, appropriately, in the same movie, and that's crazy weird and cool.

A Drop Filled With Memories is used at a bunch of different points, and I liked how it's sort of a slowed-down version of The Girl in Byakkoya.

Mima's Theme is from Perfect Blue, and it really captures how terrible and sinister everything is that entire movie, haha.

Dream Island Obsessional Park, the opening for Paranoia Agent, scared me because I had never seen any Kon stuff at the time Paranoia Agent was on Adult Swim, and I... of course had no idea what the hell was going on and was 15 at the time, so I didn't develop a taste for it yet. ALMOST TEN YEARS LATER, I'm falling all over it.

Masafumi Takada is my favorite composer! At least, he's the only one who I can name actual tracks for.

Dangan Ronpa and Super Dangan Ronpa 2 both have some incredible, memorable music. Beautiful Days, New World Order, and BOX 16 are some of my favorites from Dangan Ronpa. And Ms. Monomi's Practice Lesson, HYPER ULTRA P.T.A and Alter Ego of the New World are some of my favorites from SDR2!

But his work in No More Heroes is also great. I like Rank 11: Helter Skelter, The Virgin Child Makes Her Wish Without Feeling Anything, and Rank 02: Bad Girl

Koji Kondo is one out of the three composers I know.

1. Song of Storms, Zelda
2. The entire Skyward Sword OST (I'm serious, they're all great)

But since he was already mentioned, there is also Motoi Sakuraba who did a lot of the tales games.

3. A stirring Taboo from Tales of Vesperia
4. Beyond a colourless world, Tales of Xillia
5. Beyond the Sunlit Trees, Tales of Graces

My favorite for video games is definitely Uematsu Nobuo, since I love the Final Fantasy games, though Matsuda Junichi comes a close second because I love the Pokemon soundtracks too.

1. One Winged Angel
2. Aerith's Theme
3. Vamo' Alla Flamenco
4. Dancing Mad
5. To Zanarkand

:3c I am horrible with who does what.
Mainly because when I buy OST from series I like
they never give me the composer sometimes, if that makes sense?
I do like Yoko Kanno (wolf's rain, ghost in the shell) despite not watching any shows he has composed for (the ones listed above, for example.) But the OST for them are all amazing!

I also really like Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Mario & Luigi, Legend of Mana) who just makes the most happy and whimsical music sometimes, Very good with tone setting songs, honestly! Love her Music!

As I was saying earlier though, I have a hard time knowing the composers, But I absolutely love litterally every Yu-Gi-Oh OST and tracks ;; I am apparently a horrible fan for not knowing who composes them. I guess its Shinkichi Mitsumune for the first series, then multiple for the later ones? god I don't even know orz BUT HEY I CAN STILL LIST THINGS (I'll just throw one from each series.)

ドーマの胎動 (DuelMon) - Probably my all time fav DM track out of the 6 OST for it. It seems pretty like darkish, but maybe its me? I mean, I guess dark isn't the right word for that. But the whole track is a good listen!

異次元空間 (GX) - GX is kinda weird, the music isn't bad, but it stands out IMO. It has to much happy and joking music involved, but this track I like cause it kinda feels like a Duel Monsters track! Its pretty calm.

恋心 (5D's) - 5Ds has really good music too @@ Hard to pick just one track to share from it. I guess its a 'sadder' song? but idk im an idiot who can't explain what music makes me think.

思い出の父よ (Zexal) - sadfsdfsa Its another one of those Happy? Sad? Not sure! type of songs for me.

父との約束 (ARC-V) - Arc-V has really pretty music, I think its a different composer then the rest of the series? The style is more 'whimsical' and 'magical' sounding in my opinion. They use a chime or something in this, it just makes it stand out from previous yugioh music.

My favorite composer is probably Hiroyuki Sawano! He did the OSTs for the Ao no Exorcist anime and the first two seasons of Sengoku Basara, and they were both so good. He also did the Kill la Kill and SNK anime OSTs but I haven't seen those...

Call Me Later and Me & Creed from the Ao Ex anime are great, + Kekkai and Matsuri from the movie are sooo good. Like Matsuri especially is kind of weird but I feel like it really suits the feeling of the series...

For Sengoku Basara, Blaze is good. It kind of reminds me of Iwasaki Taku's stuff but then the orchestral stuff comes in.

Yoko Ueno is one of my favorite composers.

I really like her work in Azumanga Daioh- such as Yasumi jikan desuka and Saa, hajimari you! She really captured the lighthearted, upbeat energy of the show, while still making it sweet.

She also did freebird, the op to Haibane Renmei, and i love Starting of the World and Ethereal Remains from the same show.

Since you said video games, I'm gonna take a moment to excitedly link things from Darren Korb who is the composer for the entirety of the Transistor soundtrack. All of these are so so so so so good.

1) Old Friends - The songs all have a life of their own and they're so different. And they all flow together seamlessly in the game.

2) Forecast - Some are upbeat, yet full of the suspense for a tough battle.

3) We All Become - But then you introduce the vocal songs like this one, ones that are weaved into and are integral to the story.

4) In Circles - ...and move on to ones that are weaved into the story, weaved into the lives of the characters in the story as you play.

5) _n C_rcl_s - If you've played the game, this song... the moment it's used, and the entire situation is so perfect. And it's still so much different than the original, yet hauntingly similar.

In other words go play Transistor right now.

i agree, the transistor soundtrack is phenomenal! i really enjoyed his bastion soundtrack too! i love how all his lyrics partially tell the stories of the games they're involved in, and how in-universe of the games the songs exist??? it's a good example of meta *A*

Kajiura Yuki does some crazy good stuff, but I have to say my current favourite composer is Takanashi Yasuharu. He's known for doing Naruto Shippuden, Fairy Tail and Log Horizon. He makes godly theme songs, for instance, Fairy Tail and 's theme songs. They make you feel so good when you listen to them. And the slowed down versions of both themes are so melancholic, but they also give off the feeling of strength and determination.

Dragon force, which is the sped up version of the Fairy Tail theme, is kickass and full of energy.

And for the sake of not posting the same two songs over and over again, I'll link some other good stuff, mostly from Log Horizon.

Souguusen is a really good battle theme, it fits Log Horizon well. Mikazuki Doumei captures the light and fun atmosphere of the Crescent Moon Alliance well, and Minori to Touya is a really nice theme for the twins.

Also, I feel the need to extol about the greatness that is Mitsuda Yasunori's Inazuma Eleven music. Like dang, is it catchy or what? Sakka battles are a serious thing, okay. The sad songs are filled with sorrow, and the villainous themes are wonderfully sinister. Inazuma Eleven GO's music is just as great, although I can't confirm if Mitsuda composed those. But seriously, it's all fantastic.

Yoko Kanno! I love her work esp. on Wolf's Rain and Cowboy Bebop
Valse De La Lune (Wolf's Rain)
Cat Blues (Cowboy Bebop)

and then of course there's Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura because Square Enix games always have amazing music
Don't Be Afraid (FF8)
The Other Promise (Kingdom Hearts)

I've also never actually watched Blood+ but I have the soundtrack for some reason and I really like it. I don't even know who the composer is uhhh Mark Mancina apparently.

of course i love Koji Kondo for zelda and mario soundtracks. especially the zelda tracks T__T i just recently replayed super paper mario and remember how much i loved the soundtrack for this game. it was composed by Naoko Mitome and Chika Sekigawa. Count Bleck's Plan and Mr. L, Green Thunder were really fun tracks and i really loved Bounding Through Time. Soft light was a really powerful track. Flipside was a track that played in an area you'd have to visit often and i never got sick of hearing it. it's so catchy they worked really well together to create this soundtrack and i couldn't be happier with its turnout

I LOVE AKIRA YAMAOKA SO, SO MUCH??? i'll go ahead and say he's my favorite composer of all time due to his involvement in one of my fave game series and variance of style. like, for real, the guy's composed classical, ambience, new age, industrial, rock/metal, electronica bordering on witch house... and he wasn't even a student of music when he went to school, he has a degree in a visual arts field??? how does he manage this????? tbh making a list for him is so difficult since he's my top played artist on last.fm and has so many good tracks :,)

i'm also a huge fan of yuki kajiura, she's my close second fave composer, and because of that i enjoy groups she's been a member of and produced by poxy, like see-saw and kalafina

o1. akira yamaoka - maria /melts at dat cello
o2. akira yamaoka - the terminal show the fever pitch that starts at 2:25... /shiver
o3. yuki kajiura - le portrait de petit cosette main theme
o4. see-saw - tasogare no umi
o5. kalafina - magia i actually prefer the quattro version but i couldn't find it posted on youtube?

THIS IS HARD, I really love Yuki Kajiura, but I'll go with Daisuke Achiwa, Ken Nakagawa, Akira Tsuchiya, Kazuki Yanagawa, all of the Gust Sound Team because I'm predictable... Since all of them did so many great stuff in Ar tonelico and Atelier and the like it's hard to piiick, but how about Achiwa!

MARIA - Atelier Ayesha with vocals by Haruka Shimotsuki!
STIGMATA - Mana Khemia, vocals by Noriko Mitose!
EXEC_SPHILIA/. also with vocals by Mitose!

But okay, I'll do one from Yanagawa:
Atelier Ayesha - Yesterday's Opponents are Today's Ingredients

...And a Yuki Kajiura, I couldn't say no to her, this song doesn't get as much love as other Xenosaga songs and it should
Xenosaga II - Jr. with vocals by Margaret Dorn!

I absolutely positively to ends of earth space ever expanding universe adore Kensuke Ushio's work for Ping Pong the Animation. Every song reflects the characters and scenes Sooo well, it's amazing.

1: Peco: Probably my fave track on the soundtrack. The character is one of my all time faves, and his theme totally gets his personality and style of play.
2: Hero Appears: This song gets me SO HYPE as it should
3: China's Kitchen: The scene this song is used for is sooooo cute and sweet and the song is perfect for it!!!!!!!!! Just like every other song in this gosh darn anime!!!!
4: Butterfly Joe: Lovely song, but still got that sound of sadness and sacrifice essential for Joe.
5: Ping Pong Phase 2: I just love this whole soundtrack so much. This is a good like 'this is everything I really like about this ost' kinda song

I generally don't pay attention to composers, but if I had to pick someone, it'd probably be Takanori Arisawa because surprise of his work on the first four Digimon seasons!

Kanashimi, Yuugure, and Namida no Yukue are really pretty songs, even though they're usually reserved for the sad scenes, like character deaths. I feel kind of weird for liking more of his sad music than anything, but they're all really good.

Tatakai no Toki is my favorite of the 'battle' songs.

And Attack the Frontier always makes me smile when it comes on; it's silly-sounding, and they try to use it for more intense scenes, which makes it more amusing.
